“Relaxed, natural and beautiful photography”

About  Me…….

Hello my name is Alisha and I am a wedding and events photographer based in Portsmouth.  I live with my little girl Charlee, AKA Boo and our cat Bob.

I love travelling and art and spending as much time as I can with friends and family, I am slightly obsessed with documenting life via photography and nail vanish.

I have been very lucky to grow up in a very creative family.  My Granddad was an amazing artist and a big inspiration and I have many happy memories of the hours I spent in his studio; I believe this had a great influence on my love of art and photography.

At college I completed A-levels in Photography, Fine Art and Graphics. Followed by three years at University, studying for a BA (hons) degree in Photography. Since finishing university in 2007 I have worked full time as a photographer.

How I work?

I believe photography should be natural and relaxed. I like to focus on capturing candid (un-posed) pictures as these always tell the story best.  However a few posed group pictures are always nice to have, so I make sure formal photographs are also taken. Finally I believe my client’s ideas are as important as mine and therefore I like to spend time talking through ideas and plans.

Question and Answers

Are you a professional Photographer?   Yes, I am a full time fully qualified professional photographer. I have spent five years in total (full time) studying photography. I spent two years working towards A-levels in Art, Photography and Graphic Design followed by three years at the University of Plymouth where I studied for a  BA hons Degree in Photography (this is a nationally recognised qualification). This in-depth studying has allowed me to understand and develop my skills within most aspects of photography before I specialised in portraiture and weddings.

The benefits of me being a full time photographer is that I don’t have to fit your wedding around my other ‘main’ job as this allows me to shoot weddings any day of the week and spend more time editing your images to get the best results.

Are you insured?  Yes I am fully insured, please let me know if you would like a copy of my public liability insurance certificate (some venue ask for this).

What equipment do you use?  I use Nikon’s professional range of digital SLR’s, lens and flash. These are top quality camera systems, which helps allow me to produce top quality photographs. Using digital only, also allows me to take hundreds of photographs of your big day.

What happens if there is a problem with your camera or equipment?  I always carry backups; therefore if a camera or lens etc were to fail I would have another to hand. I also back up all image files several times throughout.

What is your photographic style?  I am a contemporary photographer and shoot mostly with a photojournalism style capturing mainly candid (un-posed) images. However I also understand that traditional images can be very important when shooting a wedding and I am more then happy to capture as many or as few formal groups photographs as required.

I aim to use my camera to document the story of your big day and produce contemporary but classic images that you can cherish.

Will you take my ideas in to account?  Of course, when I meet with you I will talk through all your ideas/requirements and take them on board. My goal is for you to be happy with your wedding photographs.

Do you have to take formal group photographs?  No I will only take group photographs if you want me to; some people prefer not to have any formal images taken at all. I will use the time I would have created the formal images to capture more candid shots of the wedding party and guests.

Often it is nice to have a group photograph with all the guests and a small number of formal images of family, friends and the wedding party. If you would like formal group photographs I will help you create a list of images you would like to have captured. Also I can take a formal photograph of any wedding guest for example your best friend, Nan & Granddad etc.

Can I see a selection of recent wedding photographs?  There are a number of examples of my photographs on my website, Facebook page and blog. I will also show you examples of completed weddings when we meet, as this will allow you see what a finished album would look like and how I can tell the story of a wedding day through the use of images.

What happens if it rains?  The rain will not stop you from having beautiful wedding photographs. We can often shoot inside; I also carry a couple of very large umbrellas, which allow for some lovely outside shoots also it may not rain all day.

Can my other guests take pictures?  Yes of course they can.

When will I see my photographs?  I aim to give you a taster (two or three images) within a few days either through e-mail or Facebook. Your disc/USB will be with you within six weeks.

Will all the photographs from my wedding be on the disc and do I have copyright of the images?  Yes all edited photographs will be given to you on disc - all image files will be high resolution for top quality printing.

I own copyright of the photographs, however I grant you a copyright license so you can use and print them for personal use.

How far ahead do I need to book?  There is no time limit that you have to book within, however the earlier you book the more likely I am to have your wedding date free. I take bookings up to two years in advance. Of course lots of people organize their wedding within a short time scale, so please get in touch with your date as I maybe free.

Do you travel?  I am based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. I can travel almost anywhere in the UK or overseas however a small travel and/or accommodation supplement would be required (at cost no profit would be made)

Can we meet before we book?  Yes of course this is a good idea, as it would allow us to talk about what you want from your wedding photography and decide which package would best suit. It is also an opportunity to see some more of my photographs which will help you decide if you like my style.

How much do you cost and how can I pay?  Please see prices and packages on the main wedding page of this website for an up to date price list. I understand that every wedding is different and can tailor packages to suit your needs. I also offer a special Reduced Registry Office Only Deal (please contact me for a detailed quote).

A £100 deposit is required for all packages and the remaining balance is due 6 weeks prior to the wedding.

I accept cash, cheque and bank transfers

You can also pay in instalments (interest free).

Can I add extra products to my package?  Yes I offer a number of products including Extra discs, albums, professional prints, framed photographs, canvas and acrylic artwork. These can be ordered up to 24 months after your wedding. Please see my products & extras link on the wedding page of this website for more information.
